What to Expect

After an initial assessment in Topsham, Exeter, there is no obligation to proceed if you decide not to. You and I can use the culturally aware space to focus on the mental health concerns for which you require Client Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Counselling. I will address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to determine if my mental health practice is right for you.

Client Centred Therapy

Client Centred Therapy focuses on appreciating and supporting you. It facilitates your openness around the concerns you experience. Client Centred Therapy aims to help you find your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and challenges unhelpful ideas which maintain the issues you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Bulimia Nervosa, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Self Harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what matter concerning your childhood and/or adult life you explore. An aim of Counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.
