More Detail

Over 7 Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Danielle. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals, couples and families with their emotional health. I have private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and relationship problems, as well as the specific problems faced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Kings Langley or West End, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and actions. It recognises and challenges negative thoughts which perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm, social anxiety disorder and substance dependence.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward which is right for you.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental health support. An intention of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find suitable ways of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

People with eating disorders may commonly hear things like: 'you are being selfish; there are people in third world countries who don't have a choice about whether to eat or not.' People with anorexia usually feel every conceivable horrible emotion about themselves and yet can't find another way to cope with life. They don't choose not to eat, it's an illness that tells them having control over food is the way to cope and, if they don't follow the illness's rules, they are failures, which leads to a viscous circle of self loathing.
