More Detail

8 Months Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Claire. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes anger, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, as well as the specific difficulties faced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment meeting in Worthing.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

Cognitive analytic therapy identifies how your past affects your present-day thoughts (cognitions) and emotions. It explores your survival techniques and if they help or obstruct you. The intention of CAT is to help you identify new and useful ways ahead.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. The objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.
