More Detail

Over 4 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Claire. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor - I help individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor. My interest includes anger, bereavement, depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), as well as the specific challenges experienced by asexual, bisexual and gay men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Colchester.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on appreciating and supporting you. It encourages your openness about the worries you experience. Client centred therapy aims to help you find your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts affect your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.
