More Detail

7+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I am Annie Collinge-Kissane. I'm a senior accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes abuse, relationship problems and self esteem, as well as the specific problems faced by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment meeting in Regents Park, London or Aylesbury.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which matter regarding your childhood or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy centres on valuing you. It considers you as a whole person and emphasises your personal development. Humanistic therapy aims to help you realise your autonomy.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find suitable methods of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Anger is a natural part of grief, and it is normal to want to blame someone for your loss. You may blame others (healthcare professionals, family members, or even the deceased), or turn the blame on yourself in the form of guilty feelings. Whilst this is normal and understandable, you need to be careful not to alienate others by taking your anger out on them. Therapeutic support may provide a huge benefit by creating a space that's accepting. An important part of the process is being given permission to express that anger without feeling embarrassed or ashamed.
