More Detail

Over 7 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm Ann-Marie James. I'm an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals, couples and families with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Reading.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which matter concerning your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a solution that is appropriate for you.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in being aware of parts of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm and substance dependence.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, feelings and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.
