More Detail

6 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I am Alison Lancaster. I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I support individuals, couples and families with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Wigton or Carlisle.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful ideas which maintain the issues you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, bipolar disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and substance dependence.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover suitable methods of coping.

Clinical Qualifications

  • British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Psychotherapist since December 2010

I abide by the Standards of Conduct Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
