Clinical Experience

I trained and worked as a psychotherapist in the NHS for over four years and have been in private practice for almost ten years. I work short and long term with adults and couples.

Prior to being a therapist I worked with children and adults in mainstream and special needs education. At present I lecture at Cambridge University in Psychodynamic Counselling. I also offer clinical supervision and am one of the university's approved clinical supervisers.

I also have an executive coaching and organisational consultancy practice. I work with leaders in business, academia and religious organisations in Cambridge, Central London and Europe.

I am particularly intersted in personal development and in October 2008, together with a colleague, I will be facilitating a desert safari in Siwa Oasis in Egypt. This will involve a camel trek into the desert where the participants will experience the unique beauty of the environment, and learn about themselves, individually and with other group members.

How I Work

I do not suscribe to the view that there is only one correct school of thought when it comes to therapy or how a person should be. If the only tool you have is a hammer all problems begin to look like nails. Whilst a dogmatic approach is always a judgemental one, I prefer to see each person as unique - this is reflected in my approach.

I have trained integratively which means I am able to draw from, and think in terms of more than one theoretical approach. I do not sit back and analyse from a distance, I offer a supportive, honest and when necessary challenging presence.

Clinical Training

I trained as a psychotherapist at The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in North London. I trained as a couple therapist with Joseph Zinker (Master Gestalt Therapist from The Gestalt Institute of Cleveland). I trained as a superviser at Leeds Psychotherapy Training Institute, and as an executive coach and organisation consultant through The Grove Practice Ltd, London W1.

Additional Information

I have a private practice in Cambridge and on South Molton Street in Central London. There is off-road parking in front of the practice in Cambridge. The nearest tube to South Molton Street in London is Bond Street Tube (it is literally seconds from the tube exit).

Depending on the assignment I can travel in the UK and overseas for corporate work. Please enquire for fees and other details by calling Freephone 0800 5345 305.
