Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Many people with a wide range of personal issues, have benefited from the counselling and psychotherapy services that I provide, based in Welling, near Bexleyheath My counselling experience began with the befriending and counselling work that I did at a hostel for homeless people and at Victim's Support. I had further clinical experience in the context of practising counselling and psychotherapy in a NHS Centre for three and a half years, as well as at Mind for two years. People with substance abuse issues have been helped by myself over the years. I have worked in a therapeutic capacity for the Addiction Psychology Services Department of the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust. Numerous holders of Private Health Insurance policies have been helped by myself over the years. I am a registered provider of counselling/psychotherapy services with major Private Healthcare Insurance Companies in the U.K Individuals and couples have been treated by myself at my private practice since 2004. The focus of counselling and psychotherapy is often people's personal issues which get in the way of their work. I also offer clinical supervision for others practising in this field.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor of many years experience, working with individuals and couples, as well as offering supervision to others practising in this field. I am based at my practice in Welling, near Bexleyheath. In addition I see clients from the following areas : Bexley, Blackheath, Lewisham, Woolwich, Plumstead, Falconwood, Eltham, Sidcup, Shooters Hill, South East London and Kent.

I believe that it is important to create a respectful relationship with my clients. This means that we will work together in a confidential, non-judgemental space that enables you to express whatever is troubling you. From my experience this way of working at your own pace, can help you to face your issues which can lead to positive changes in your life.

Fundamental to my practice is my view of people that is characterised by an accepting, respectful attitude. This helps to create a safe, secure space that allows free expression of personal issues, or problems.

My work includes :

a) An exploration of how current problems may be connected to past relationships and events.

b) Exploring issues around anxiety. Helping clients to address the cause of their anxiety can improve their quality of life and their potential for change. Kevin Spacey's statement in American Beauty : "it's a great thing when you realise you still have the ability to surprise yourself ", clarifies an engagement with life where change is integral to health.
