Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Therapist. I have many years experience in helping people make successful changes in their lives. I provide private counselling in the City area of London where I see clients for both short term counselling and open ended therapy. I also work in primary care as a therapist where I see a wide social, economic and ethnic range of clients. I also work as a counsellor for EAP Assistance Programmes, providing counselling for the employees of their corporate clients. I also have experience in working with students at a theatre academy.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
People can experience emotional distress at times, maybe because of a difficult childhood, relationship issues, including dysfunctional family relationships, past or recent traumas, bereavement. You may be feeling anxious or depressed, or feel that life holds no meaning for you, that you are only focusing on how to move away from a negative situation, rather than being able to focus on what goals you want for yourself. You may be facing important decisions, know that you want to make the changes, but feel stuck in following through with them.I am a humanistic integrative therapist. This approach integrates the well known approaches of Transactional Analysis, and Person Centred therapy. It helps the client make connections with earlier life experiences and how they might be impacting on the way they are living their life in the present. We sometimes still use old outdated coping strategies in the present, and these may need updating in order for people to regain their quality of life, and feel that they have more choices open to them. It is important for people to feel respected and valued for who they really are.
