Hello. My name is Maggie Allison. I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) with a Specialism in Psychotherapy and a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Counselling Psychologist. I help people to address the causes of problems, reduce symptoms, and live more fully. My private Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy clinic is based in Darlington.
I have been a BPS Chartered Counselling Psychologist since June 2006 and a HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist since June 2009, so I have over 6 years and 11 months of post-chartership experience of working with clients. In addition, I gained experience of working with clients as part of my training. I work with Individuals and Couples. I am highly experienced in providing Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy to men, people from corporate backgrounds, people from different backgrounds and cultures and women, and assisting with the particular challenges they face. I have academic and clinical research experience in Anger, Anxiety, Business Leadership and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
In addition to being a Counselling Psychologist in private practice in Darlington, I have experience as a Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), NHS Hospital, NHS Primary Care Trust (PCT) and University Counselling Psychologist.

As Client and Therapist, we can make use of the supportive environment to clarify the personal or professional challenges for which you are considering Counselling, Psychology or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy practice is to develop your insight of your thoughts and how they may increase or decrease your symptoms, develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept, tailor therapy to you and your needs and work towards ending therapy when it is right for you. To get the most from Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to speak openly with me and reflect.
