Clinical Experience in Counselling
As an experienced counsellor I have work extensively in the primary care sector, with clients presenting with a wide range of issues. I have a special interest in mental health, and those living with life-limiting conditions, where I have completed further in-depth training.
I also have experience of working for a large employee assistance provider, providing workplace counselling to clients presenting with work-related stress, motivation and focus concerns, as well as other associated concerns including performance, grievance, and workplace relationship difficulties.
I offer relationship counselling and mediation to couples and families and any other relationship where there is conflict and difficulty, allowing a safe and confidential space for communication and resolution.
I have also completed training in counselling children and young people. I can provide play therapy for children age 4+, using a range of play and art materials.
What to Expect during Counselling
As a person-centred integrative therapist I am interested in what has brought you to this point in your life. It is wholly my belief that within an environment where you will be heard and not judged, you can begin to explore and work through whatever is causing you concern; therefore allowing change and movement from what sometimes can feel like a place of "stuckness."I hope the relationship that will develop between us, and our work together, will allow you to gain a better understanding of yourself and the issues you present with.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling
I trained at the University of Strathclyde, and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-centred therapy. I also hold a certificate in counselling from the same University.
I also hold certificates in Counselling children and young people, and Play therapy, again having completed training at the University of Strathclyde.
My work in mental health, provided me with the opportunity to complete further, certificated, in-depth training, including suicide prevention and intervention.
I have also completed certificated training in working with families in crisis, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
