Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist for twelve years and I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I am registered with the UK Registry of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).
I was employed as a Consultant for the mental health charity Family Action for seven years, working with individuals, couples and families, and for eight years at PPCS (Psychiatric and Psychological Consultant Services) near Harley Street.
I have also worked at SASS (Sussex Alcohol and Substance Misuse Services), at the Arts Clinic in London, for Creative Minds, the Women's Clinic in London, and on various EAPs (Employer Assistance Programmes).
I am also a Life Coach and a Creativity Coach, and I run social anxiety and confidence building programmes for individuals, and organisations, which have included Nortel, BT, Tower Hamlets School Governors, Unilever, The College of Law.
Six years ago I founded Greenlight Healing and Personal Development Consultancy, which is based in Godalming in Surrey.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
I employ an Integrative and Holistic approach to counselling and psychotherapy because the problems and issues that clients bring to the consulting room are rarely one-dimensional. Depression, for example, may arise due to unresolved childhood problems, work and/or relationship dissatisfaction, lack of personal fulfilment, spiritual dilemmas, a poor diet – or a combination of all of these.I believe that every individual is unique, yet few of us manage to achieve our full potential – whether in our work, our relationships or in our creative and leisure pursuits. My training and experience is wide ranging, and I draw on those therapies that are best suited to the individual client – or couple in question.
The various approaches I use include Psychodynamic, Transpersonal, Existential, Person Centred, and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT). Where appropriate, I may also draw on Addiction Management, Stress Management or Neuro-Linguistic techniques.
Through identifying and tackling destructive life patterns, spiritual deadlocks, negative behaviours and thinking I aim to open up new life style choices, improve relationships and increase confidence, personal growth and fulfilment.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling at Sussex University in 2000, and a Certificate in Alcohol and Substance Misuse Counselling with Sussex Alcohol and Substance Misuse Services in 2002. In 2006 I took a ‘Counsellor to Life Coach’ training course. Since then I have undertaken numerous CPD (Continuous Professional Development) courses and trainings in a variety of areas including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Transpersonal Therapy and Couples Therapy.
