Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and have worked consistently for over ten years. Working in a person centred format, incorporating elements of psychosynthesis, gestalt, solution focused, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and Human Givens frameworks.
During that time I have run a successful private practice in Bristol, and recently in Malvern, as well working as a counsellor for one of the foremost employee assistance providers, providing counselling support for a very wide range of client companies and their employees.
As well as standard face to face sessions with clients, I have a vast experience of working with clients over the phone, and most recently over the internet.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
Within a brief counselling model, I aim to look towards solutions, assisting the client to utilise their own skills, strengths and resources for problem management. I utilise solution focused, cognitive behavioural and human givens methods of working with the client. For longer term work I would use humanistic and psychosynthesis methods as my core approach.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have a Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and Therapy, supported by a BA (Hons) degree in Humanities. In terms of continuing personal development I have done many short courses in Human Givens, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), and Solution Focused methods covering a wide range of issues. I am an accredited member of BACP.
