Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Clinical Psychologist. I have 10 years of practising experience. I have treated many people with a wide range of problems, including depression, panic disorder and other anxiety related problems, stress and worry, as well as schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. I use a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. I have a friendly and flexible working style that will make you feel quickly at ease. I like to work collaboratively with people to ensure that goals are being worked towards in the most efficient and effective ways. My experience of working with many different therapeutic styles ensures that you have choice in the way therapy sessions work and techniques are used that fit with the way that you find you like to work. I work from a clinic in Clapham, Lambeth, South West London and offer day time and evening appointments. I work on a one to one basis, as well as seeing couples and groups.

What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

Mainly, I work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is the most evidence based and effective therapy for treating depression and anxiety related problems. CBT involves investigating the way our thinking and behaviour impacts on the way we feel and developing techniques and strategies to make changes that improve our state of mind.

I also use techniques from other models to compliment CBT and to intensify its benefits; for example Compassion Focused Therapy, which helps people to develop and strengthen an ability to self-soothe rather than self-criticise. I also use Mindfulness techniques to help people maintain the progress they have made in therapy, which help people to create a space between themselves and their thinking and feelings so to stay more comfortably in the present moment, rather than in future worries or past memories.
