Clinical Experience in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist practicing in north west London. I established my private practice in 2001 and am an ethical practitioner dedicated to psychoanalytic theory and its keen respect for the individual as narrator and navigator of their own experience.
What to Expect during Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
Psychoanalysis is not for the faint-hearted. Sometimes the work will start with a focus on a problematic communication with a significant other – whether that be a partner, a parent, a work colleague or a friend.Other times a crisis situation may influence the decision to seek therapy, but in the process of speaking about one's life it may come to light that there are long-standing issues contributing to a general feeling of unhappiness or anxiety.
If you are someone who – like the detective in a good mystery novel – sets out gathering clues by the process of interview, and, like any good sleuth, has only the words of the usual suspects to help in analysing the events leading to a baffling mishap – then psychoanalysis – as a discourse of rigorous investigation and self examination – may be of interest to you.
Clinical Qualifications in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
- UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Analytical Psychotherapist since 2005
- Advanced Practice A Psychoanalytic Approach to Working with Children and Adolescents - Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR) London (UK) 2005
I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Code of Ethics of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Code of Ethics of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR) London.
Additional Information
Psychoanalysis has strong links to literature, art, poetry and mathematics. Indeed for the individual contemplating a psychoanalytic encounter, the setting can be likened to the blank canvas that confronts the artist, the blank page that confronts the poet, the mathematical deductions used in problem solving – all are linked to aspects of self discovery and unconscious desires previously unrecognised or unsaid – in psychoanalysis it is your own words that make an artwork out of life.
