Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. A Member of the United Kingdom for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP). And a Registered Professional Practitioner Member of the Association of Neuro Linguistic Programming (ANLP).
I have 12 years extensive clinical experience working within a multi-cultural and diverse background of people within the private, voluntary, business and GP centres. I work with adult individuals or within couple and group settings. I have over 7 years experience as a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner using NLP Coaching and Hypnotherapy techniques successfully with my clients.
I have a wide range of experience dealing with and helping clients overcome psychological, physical and emotional health problems. My way of working has changed greatly over the 12 years to factor the changing needs of my clients and offer flexibility to work with clients on a short or long term basis. The therapy is goal oriented and the focus is on achieving client results within the limitations dependent on individual client circumstances.
The Integrative counselling-psychotherapeutic background allows me to combine an all-round established teachings to resolving many of life's problems including intellectual, spiritual and environmental issues that can impact on a person. With personalised integrative approach you can experience change given the many tools that are brought to the sessions to support each person, their learning styles, behaviours, values and experiences as a whole person.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
All communications are strictly confidential. You can expect an initial assessment when we meet. This is an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other. For me to understand what your issues are, and what you are experiencing, what you will like to achieve from therapy and how I can help you achieve the change you want to make through therapy. By the end of the initial meeting I usually recommend 6 sessions to get the best results to see that therapy is working for you.The sessions thereafter are flexible. I usually have the traditional 60 minute sessions and with prior arrangements where clients wish to address a particular issue the sessions can be extended from an hour and half to having a day long breakthrough session.
Working with me you will be supported throughout and you can expect:
- To have a greater awareness of yourself and of others
- You can learn new strategies for living
- Boost your confidence and self esteem
- You will have choices to change your situation, states of behaviour and emotions
- Increase your resources and improve your health and physical problems
- Enable you to balance your work and personal life
- Take control of your life, health and relationships and live more fully
- You can monitor the results of our work on a weekly basis.
Within the integrative approach I bring to my sessions a number of proven methods in supporting my clients and draw upon and use Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Coaching skills, and Hypnotherapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Mindfulness and Relaxation techniques. I incorporate other approaches that may include Timeline therapy, Gestalt therapy, and Transactional Therapy and Attachment theory in my work.
As well as working with depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship problems, abuse and work difficulties etc., I have a passion supporting clients overcome experiencing psycho-somatic health problems, psychosexual issues and addictions of many kinds including Internet addiction, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, sleeping medication to name a few. The other area of my work I specialise in is working with people suffering with fears, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorders.

In my therapy sessions I not only bring theoretical knowledge but life and my business and project management experience of 17 years in the field of IT, Banking and Telecommunications as well as bringing hands-on therapeutic experience of 12 years.
I know therapy is not an easy decision to take. Often we have problems and we can manage them our-self or through friends and family. At times it is hard to put things into perspective or we find ourselves stuck at a particular juncture in our life that increases our anxieties. Contacting a therapist knowing it's confidential and it is your best interest that is at the heart of my work, that you will feel comfortable to make an appointment and start experiencing a change in your life, health and relationship for the better.
