Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

My clinical experience has been gained by working as a bereavement counsellor for the charity Cruse Bereavement Care and by working as a counsellor for the NHS both in primary care and at the Renal Unit within the Royal London Hospital. I also work in private practice in Central London. Whilst working for Cruse and the Royal London Hospital involved working within specialist areas, my work in NHS primary care gave me the opportunity to work with a vast array of different issues from anger management, addictions and depression to work and relationship issues.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

In general I work in an existential, phenomenological way - that means that I work with whatever issues are affecting the day-to-day existence of my clients. Clients come to me with the conflicts and paradoxes of their daily lives, some of which they can identify but some are uncertain. Psychotherapy and counselling can allow clients to work through painful and overwhelming issues which can weigh them down and burden them. The release of these burdens can lead to a more confident, accepting and balanced existence.

I work with clients to help them develop an awareness of the basic truths of their existence such as freedom, aloneness and the meaning of their lives. In so doing I aim to allow clients to experience life in a more authentic way, to develop their own sense of personal meaning, and become aware of their own freedom of choice and consequently of the possibilities open to them.

I offer a safe therapeutic experience in a caring environment with great emphasis placed on understanding and respect.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist since 2010
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Member (MBACP) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2009
  • UKCP Accredited Training Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Code of Ethics of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Code of Ethics of the Society for Existential Analysis (SEA) London.

Additional Information

Before becoming a Psychotherapist I worked in the commercial world first as an Advertising Executive and later as a Management Consultant. I often find my commercial experience useful when faced with my clients' stresses and dilemmas bought on by the pace and complexity of modern living.
