Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have worked within the counselling and psychotherapy field for some fifteen years within Leicestershire. I have worked within a variety of environments and with a wide range of people. The environments I have worked in are private practice, employee assistance programmes and emergency services. Within these services I worked with clients presenting a variety of issues. I am now in private practice situated in Enderby Leicestershire with good links to the M1 & M69 and Leicester's outer ring road, with parking.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Critical Incident Stress Management and clinical supervision within Leicester. I provide short or longer term therapy depending on the clients needs.
Trauma is an area of special interest having worked for the past five years supporting individuals who have been exposed to traumatic events.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
I work in an integrative way and explore practical applications outside of the therapy room. This is achieved by challenging patterns of behaviour that can impede development. The most important aspect of therapy, and research informs us of this, is the relationship between client and therapist. I work with the 'core conditions' that is to say I am empathic, non judgemental and honest. Empathic to the feelings of the client not the situation, because we are all individuals. Honest, not about my opinion, but what is happening within the relationship. Non judgemental in that we are all individuals and what may be 'OK' for one is not for another. This creates a safe environment for client's to explore and express their feelings gaining new insight and awareness.Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
