Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
Having qualified as a therapist in 2003 I have seen a cross section of clients with a range of presenting issues.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a psychosynthesis therapist. Psychosynthesis therapy is a progressive model of transpersonal psychotherapy. The underlying intent of every psychosynthesis counselling interaction is to build the self-belief of the client. The principal purpose of all interventions is to challenge, encourage, enable and support as the client seeks to transform their behaviour.Psychosynthesis therapy presents the ideal balance between structure and fluidity. Psychosynthesis recognises that even a deep and thorough self-knowledge may not be sufficient to result in a lasting transformation, and that the engagement of the will is required to bring this knowledge into effect. In order to explore and develop the will, psychosynthesis can be task or goal orientated whilst at the same time never overlooking the specific needs of the individual. This rare combination has the effect of evoking and developing the will, thus grounding the development of the complete person.
Perhaps the one thing that can be counted on to make a difference is the relationship between client and therapist. Accurate and sensitive understanding of the client’s experiences and feelings is paramount. Trust, and simply a liking of one another, is also key.
