Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a Health Professions Council (HPC) and British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) Registered Art Psychotherapist. I provide creative therapeutic work with children, adults and young people suffering from traumatic abuse, attachment disorders, having crossed cultures, or having been involved in a cult or abusive organisation.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
I studied art before training to be an art therapist. Art therapy sessions create boundaries and safety. You can come to see me each week for one hour. We will talk about what has been relevant to you in a safe, confidential environment. Then you may want to make an image - materials are provided. You do not have to be good at art. The image making is your own personal expression and the process will help you to find that expression. The art will be a focus for how we then think together about the issues that have been troubling you. I work according to what an individual person may need.Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
- UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2010
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2010
- Health Professions Council (HPC) Registered Art Therapist since 2003
- BA Art Psychotherapy - University of Sheffield (UK) 2003
I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Standards of the Health Professions Council (HPC) and the Conditions of Registration of the UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).
Additional Information
Creativity can bypass the cognitive functioning and reveal some of what motivates us in relation to a particular problem in our lives. It also surprises us in altering how we think about what we have experienced. I am qualified to help you to face troubling realities in your life in this way, for the purpose of integrating, a space to re-think and come to terms with it.
