I am a qualified clinical supervisor. I have worked for twelve years in my private counselling practice, and as a senior clinician in organisations. In additions to the problems listed above, I have extensive experience working with abuse and trauma, and women and working across orientations with clients from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, including within the gay, lesbian and bisexual community.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling is an opportunity to talk to someone in a safe and confidential space to help you to reclaim a lost sense of self and improve your quality of life. My aim is always to support you to make sense of your life in a way that leads to a reawakening of your connection to yourself and others.Counselling can be used to explore any issues that affect your quality of life. When painful experiences are explored in a safe environment it enables you to make sense of them and release them. It is an opportunity to safely explore and resolve fears, regrets, losses, relationship issues, bereavement, addictions and trauma and abuse in a space just for you.
When painful experiences are resolved in this way it can lead to a renewed sense of hope and reconnection in our lives. This not only deepens our connection to ourselves but leads to an awakening in our relationships.
Counselling can be taken on a short or long term basis depending on your needs. I adapt the therapy according to your needs and experience. When you come to see me I assess your unique needs and offer you a space for exploration that enables you to deepen your understanding of yourself and simply reconnect. This process usually takes place on a weekly basis, though some people feel the need to come less often.
The aim of counseling is always an improved quality of life and relationships. It can be as much about celebrating your strengths and aspirations, as well as facing painful experiences and it always takes place at a pace that provides safety and connection for you.
