Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have several years experience counselling adults, young people and children. In my private counselling practice I counsel people who bring a wide variety of therapy issues. My clients are from various cultures and religious or non-religious backgrounds. I have counselling experience in mental health, cancer care, drug and alcohol and gambling agencies. I have counselled children and young people at school and in a youth organisation. I have training and experience of counselling people who have difficulties relating to eating and food. I have experiences of counselling people who have neuro-diverse conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Aspergers and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD). My interest and understandings of these conditions including their effects upon individuals and families started when I was the Special Educational Needs co-ordinator at a nursery school.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

Some clients have particular counselling issues which they want to address whilst others are feeling unhappy or dissatisfied without being able to pinpoint the reason.

I am a person-centred counsellor and as such work alongside clients to understand and address whatever is troubling them. I often find that as we engage with the issues together deeper understandings are reached and the way forward becomes clearer.

My person-centred counselling approach involves offering a genuine, empathic and accepting relationship. I hope that clients will feel supported and safe enough to speak freely. I find that as part of the counselling process clients can become more confident and aware of their own resources and potential.

I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor and I am committed to upholding the BACP Code of Ethics and providing a confidential service for clients.
