Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist. My private counselling and psychotherapy is in LLandough, Penarth. I also work as a Counsellor within the Child Health Department of a large teaching Hospital in Cardiff, and in GP surgeries in Cardiff.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

My approach in counselling and psychotherapy is Person Centred. This means I view the relationship between myself and the client with the utmost importance. Having mutual respect, trust and congruence, help therapy to be successful. I consider the client to be the expert on their problem(s). During counselling and psychotherapy, I link systemic frameworks that explore the impact and effects of events for clients, in order to help them understand these effects, and to help them create new meanings surrounding these events. To do this, I help the client to feel at ease so they can relate their story.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

- Diploma Counselling 2002
- MSc Systemic Psychotherapy 2010

Additional Information

I trained as a Children's Nurse in 1994 after I had my children. It was after this that I realised when working as a Children's Nurse in the hospital looking after very sick babies and children that parents and families didn't have anyone to offload worries and concerns to. This led me to train to be a counsellor and psychotherapist.
