Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy

I am particularly experienced in working with people who are depressed and confused, concerned about their relationships, suffer from acute anxiety, are facing the need to make major changes in their life or have experienced bereavement and loss. I have over ten years experience of working as a counsellor and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I am particularly experienced in working with people who have experienced sight loss, are disabled or have a child who is disabled.

What to Expect during Psychotherapy

I normally see people on a once or twice weekly basis for fifty minute sessions.

People bring to me their concerns about such issues as their moods, relationships or work and together we explore through current experiences, memories, fears, dreams and fantasies what it might be that makes them feel stuck and gets in the way of this becoming fulfilled.

The work we do together moves between the present and the past and the conscious and the unconscious. It looks at habits of thought and being that may have been valuable at one time but may no longer serve so well. The process can access quite painful feelings but this can be liberating and lead to feelings of greater confidence, well being and a sense of being more in control of your life.

My work is very much influenced, among others, by Jung, Freud, Klein and Winnicott.

Although my consulting room is accessible to people in wheelchairs, sadly, the toilet is up one flight of stairs.

  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Analytical Psychotherapist since 2003
  • Advanced Training A Jungian Analytic Approach to Working with Adults - Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP) London (UK) 2003
