Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a fully qualified, UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist, based in Regent Street, Central London, W1. I offer both short and long term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples and am recognized by most major health insurance companies. I work with Clients who bring a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, feeling stuck, low self-esteem and confidence, addiction, sexual and relationship problems, bereavement, work and career issues and the search for meaning in life. I have worked in the NHS in doctors surgeries and hospitals and in addition to seeing private clients who are either self funded or covered by health insurance, I currently work part time at the Priory hospital north London with groups and individuals.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

My aim as a therapist is to help you make meaningful changes to how you think, behave and experience yourself in the world and ultimately to understand yourself more fully. I take a flexible approach, tailored to the individual, drawing from different models. Above all, I believe that lasting change is achieved through a supportive, open and trusting relationship between therapist and client. In addition to my experience and theoretical understanding, this is what I offer clients who come to see me with a wide range of issues and expectations.

During our initial consultation we will discuss what has prompted you to contact me; the issue as you see it and any past or current background information you are willing to share at this point. I will talk through my ideas for a treatment plan which will be shaped by us both over coming sessions. You will have a chance to ask me any questions about how I work or voice any concerns, so that you can decide whether I am someone with whom youfeel comfortable to share personal thoughts and feelings.

Therapy may include an exploration of your early life to help understand problematic or limiting ways of thinking and behaving with the ultimate goal of achieving greater self acceptance. This is likely to be part of longer term therapy which for some will remain open-ended until it feels as if some resolution has been reached. For those seeking short-term therapy, lasting for around 6-12 sessions, a more solution-focused, structured approach willbe appropriate, incorporating specific tasks and homework between sessions.
