Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy
I have mostly worked with people who are distressed by the way their life has shaped round them, and who wish to change the way they deal with the different elements, inner and outer, that make up their daily experience.
Most of the clients that I have worked with have suffered from anxiety, depression, work problems, relationship problems, or motivational problems - usually some combination of these.

What to Expect during Psychotherapy
Many people experience psychological distress during their lives. Sometimes this is due to a difficult or traumatic childhood, trauma in later life or the difficulties and pressures of everyday living.
The therapeutic process involves bringing to consciousness the unconscious aspects of a person’s problems.
One of the main ways of doing this is to help a client examine their everyday life and personal interactions, and how they are affected by their inner (often unconscious) assumptions and responses. Another important way lies in the analysis of dreams, and the use of creative imagination and visualisation.
As in any form of psychotherapy, it is also important to look at the story of a person's life, and how this affects their relationship with their sexuality, partners, work and leisure. In addition to this, for some people, a spiritual or religious dimension comes into the picture as well.
I feel that helping a person explore their inner issues has to be done in a compassionate and sympathetic way. For me the client is a person and not a case.

Clinical Training in Psychotherapy
I was originally trained as a Jungian analyst, but over time I have added other ways of working - largely based on my clinical experience of what is effective and what is needed under different circumstances.
I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist.
