Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Registered Practitioner Counselling Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC). I am also a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).
I am a registered psychologist with Axa PPP, Standard Life Ltd and one other health insurance company. Other health insurances usually cover psychologists and counsellors who are registered with the professional bodies even if not registered initially with the insurance company.
I have worked as a therapist for over twenty five years in statutory mental health services, voluntary and private sectors. My clinical experience has been varied within the multitude of settings in which I have worked covering complex to more surface needs of the people I work with.
Due to my experience and expertise in child abuse and relational trauma and the high profile arena of this work, I am frequently quoted within the media.
What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
I work utilising different approaches as I believe no client's needs and expectations are quite the same and various theoretical models have much to offer depending on the situation. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is useful for management of strategies and immediate distress. Psychodynamic Therapy is useful to explore the early life experience and/or to understand the interface between the past and present. How the past can influence our present relationships and experience is central to how I work utilising cognitive behavioural strategies to facilitate containment and self-management.Clinical Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
- Health Professions Council (HPC) Registered Practitioner Psychologist since 2009
- British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) since 2002
- Clinical Doctorate Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy
I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Standards of the Health Professions Council (HPC).
