Clinical Experience in Psychology
I use counselling and coaching methods when working with clients to enable insight and recovery through understanding, acceptance and action. I have worked in a number of organisations looking at processes, enhancing management skills and impact on motivation, commitment and performance of the workforce. I work with individuals suffering from work or lifestyle stress and anxiety. I have successfully coached individuals who have reached a crossroads or impasse due to lack of self confidence, career or relationship plateau or relationship breakdown - either at work or in their personal lives. I have mediated on many occasions to allow reconciliation or compromise. I have sympathetically coached and counselled for achievement where targets and goals are difficult to achieve - including in weight loss situations and some phobias - leading to sustainable success.
What to Expect during Psychology
Our sessions may involve using therapies to help consider your personality traits and related feelings and behaviours. However on a deeper level it is important to understand how day to day moods (states) affect you too. Understanding these aspects of yourself and where they spring from can be empowering, freeing you from illogical barriers and helping you to understand the impact you are having on yourself. This is as important as recognising the affect you have on others or they on you in different situations. It is the starting point to considering the situation you are in and what you can do about it.A deep understanding and deconstructing is essential - that is breaking down the problem and isolating specific aspects into manageable stages that we can tackle - with definite goals. Gaining additional insight may involve you completing a questionnaire which is specially designed to aid discussion and analysis of you or your situation (known as a psychometric test). These are usually used with a written assessment report for you to keep that includes recommendations. You may need to undertake tasks or action between sessions. The content of our sessions is strictly private and confidential unless you expressly wish it to be shared with someone else.

Additional Information
I can be flexible about working at weekends and booking consulting rooms at other locations that might be easier for you to travel to. At the first session I establish whether it is likely that we can work well together to improve your situation. I wouldn't want to proceed unless both of us think I can be of assistance. Occasionally I recommend that clients see someone else with different skills or knowledge.
