Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist. I have a background in mental health and charity work and have worked for organisations such as MIND, Victim Support, and Women's Trust. I have also worked with London Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy for several years.
My work as a psychotherapist and counselling psychologist has included work with a vast range of issues and client groups. I have experience in working with addiction, depression, bereavement, anxiety disorders, domestic abuse, sexuality, obsessive behaviours and many more. As well as rigorous training and extensive client work I bring to the therapeutic relationship a mature understanding of life's emotional vicissitudes and potentially traumatic effects.
What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
My work as a psychotherapist and psychologist is informed primarily by an existential approach to the problems of life. In real, human terms, this means working with you to uncover what it is that holds meaning for you in life, without which it is very hard to get out of bed in the morning.I work with the core belief that everyone needs to feel able to make good, healthy choices for themselves, choices with personal resonance and meaning, but that this can feel impossible when we feel a victim of others and of cruel or unfair circumstances.
I help you to see where changes are needed, and to feel strong enough to make them. My role as your psychotherapist is to give you a safe non-judgemental and creative space within which you can work out who you are and what you want.
I also have some background in Jungian work, which allows me to place emphasis on the different, sometimes conflicting needs and desires that bubble beneath the surface of consciousness and at times threaten to capsize us if we do not listen carefully to them.
Overall, my way of working comes from a commitment to building with you a solid, trusting relationship which you can come to rely on for ongoing support, understanding and inspiration; and the freedom to live the life of your choosing.
This relationship is built up over time with regular, weekly or twice weekly sessions for as long or as short a period as you need. It is completely confidential and non-judgemental. If you have financial difficulties I am open to working with you to see if we can arrive at a fee that suits us both.
