I have been a practising psychotherapist since 2003 and have worked at Guy's Hospital in London as well as privately, at home and at a clinic in the City of London.

What to Expect during Counselling, Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

My training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This supposes that the content of a person's words and their address to an analyst will contain more than just the here and now and the surface or intended meaning, and it is through engaging in that 'more than' that the analysis progresses. In other words it is about both a relationship as well as about meaning.

My aim as a therapist is to help the individual free themselves from unwanted thought or behaviour patterns, which often have roots in the past, but which may have been triggered by a recent event, or a crisis in a relationship. The person coming for help is encouraged to bring their innermost thoughts, feelings, dreams and memories to the session and, through meaningful engagement with the therapist, work with me on finding new ways of understanding, coping and moving on.
