Clinical Experience in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
My name is Christos Tombras. I am a psychoanalyst - psychoanalytic psychotherapist, working in a Lacanian orientation. In my work, I invite you to talk about what you find difficult in your life. I work with you to help explore these difficulties and find new pathways around them.
An important aspect of psychoanalytic work in the Lacanian orientation is that the length of sessions is not predetermined. Sessions can be short, to underline or stress something important that has been revealed, or long, if things need to be clarified before the end of a session. On average, however, sessions tend to be between 30 and 45 minutes.
What to Expect during Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy
What we need to do first, is to agree to work together. Psychoanalysis requires a commitment both from the analysand and the analyst. We will discuss all this at an initial exploratory consultation. As a psychoanalyst, I invite you to talk.
You can talk about everything ?whatever crosses your mind: complaints, symptoms, fears, desires, dreams, fantasies, opinions, doubts.
This is the only rule of analysis, namely that there are no rules, or agenda for the session: There is nothing that should be discussed. There is nothing that should not be discussed.
Depending on the needs and desires of each individual, sessions can be very frequent, several times each week, or not so frequent, once each week or even less frequent than that.
Fees are negotiable, and depend, in general, on the circumstances of each individual and the agreed frequency of the sessions. Please note that In order to ensure that the allotted times remain open and available to you, missed sessions need to be paid - unless otherwise agreed.
