Clinical Experience in Counselling

I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Practitioner, a United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Independent Registered Counsellor, and an Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner. I became a counsellor because I had bereavement counselling following the death of my father from cancer. I found this counselling very helpful and supportive and I wanted to help other people to ensure that they too could benefit from counselling. I have a wide experience of working with the problems listed above, through my counselling work with adolescents, adults, couples, parents and the elderly. This experience has been gained through my counselling work in my private practice, a GP surgery, Brent Alcohol Counselling Services (BACS), Employee Assisted Programmes (EAP), Highgate Counselling Centre, Age Concern and Barnet Carers.

What to Expect during Counselling

I use the Psychodynamic Approach in counselling to help clients gain insight and understanding by linking their past with the present. By exploring their thoughts and feelings it helps them to gain insights and be able to move forward and cope better in their lives.

I also use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). If a person changes the way they think, less negatively and more positively it can change their moods and they can become happier. CBT also provides coping strategies and is considered one of the most effective forms of treatment by NICE.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling

  • UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind) Counsellor since 2008
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor since 2008
  • Advanced Diploma A Psychoanalytic Approach to Working with Children and Adolescents - Highgate Counselling Centre London (UK) 2006

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Conditions of Registration of the UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).
