Clinical Experience in Counselling

In my private counselling practice I work with individual clients and couples who present with a wide range of issues including identity problems, relationships and life stages. My philosophy is that everyone in life has a purpose and my work is helping others to reach their potential and therefore fulfill their purpose in life. Giving problems an airing may be all that is necessary. Many of us already know that just talking over a problem with a colleague at work, friends or family often clarifies a situation. Sometimes however, neither the necessary information nor the appropriate support is available and there are also times when we would prefer to talk to an impartial professional. Counselling offers confidentiality, space, respect and support for you in finding a solution to your difficulties.

What to Expect during Counselling

My approach to counselling is based in the belief that all individuals have the potential and resources to work through the issues and problems that are worrying them, and through the process of therapy to begin to make changes that enable them to live more fulfilling and satisfying lives.

My role in this process is to provide an environment within which together we can create a relationship where the client feels safe, accepted and understood. I take very seriously issues of ethical and professional practice and adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling

  • BACP Accredited Professional Diploma Person Centred Counselling - Middlesex University (UK) 1999

Additional Information

In addition to my private counselling practice, I currently work part time in a drug and alcohol counselling agency as well as running training courses within the community on how to support people who have been bereaved. I have completed the Certificate in Relationship Counselling and now run Marriage Preparation Courses within my own community.
