Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health Professions Council (HPC) as well as a Senior Lecturer in Counselling Psychology. My private counselling psychology and psychotherapy practice is based in North London, NW3. My clinical experience is based on training and clinical appointments in the UK and Greece over the last eight years. My therapeutic approach is first and foremost philosophical in nature aiming at an exploration and clarification of psychological problems, life issues, and difficulties in living. Recognition and understanding of such issues take precedence in my work as the first step towards any kind of resolution is based on a clarification of their meaning and place in one's life. This in itself provides a sense of empowerment and relief that facilitate the creation of coping strategies and ways of diminishing their impact on everyday living. I specialise in depression, anxiety, loss of meaning, identity issues, sexuality, and relational difficulties. Any further information that you may require is always available upon request.

What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

My way of working is collaborative, dialogical, and relational in nature. I am trained in a variety of approaches and as such conduct a form of integrative therapy, however my specialty is in existential philosophy and therefore my practice is mainly explorative, non-pathologising, and descriptive in nature.

I view therapy as an intense dialogue that focuses upon clarification and exploration of life issues. My role is to listen to your understanding of your difficulties and how they came about, and to facilitate exploration so that your attitudes, personal stance in life, and relation to the world and other people become explicit. A collaborative stance is at the very heart of my practice; together we will work on how to tackle these difficulties constructively so that we can instigate a sense of movement in your life that will allow you to take a stance in life and create a way of being that is in line with your values, feelings, and principles.

During our first session we will discuss the issues that concern you and I will offer a formulation of what I think can be done therapeutically as well as explain how we would work towards this.
