Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am an Integrative and Psychodynamic psychotherapist, as well as a qualified counsellor. I have many years experience in both roles and am able to work with a wide range of psychological, emotional and mental health problems. My clinical experience has been developed over the past twenty years to include work with individuals, couples and group, from a wide range of cultural, class and racial backgrounds. Through my intercultural training, I have maintained my interest in and respect for difference and diversity, while also recognising the shared areas of commonality in all of human nature.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

It is of primary importance that you the client should be helped to feel comfortable about the work undertaken. This will enable us to build a relationship of trust, which is vital if we are fully to explore your personal difficulties and discover ways of living life more resourcefully.

We will work collaboratively to help you find your own solutions to your problems. This involves exploring together the issues that led you to seek help, and any related issues that may be playing a part in your life. The overall aim will be to enable you to gain new and deeper understanding of your problems, and then to discover ways to deal with them effectively and healthily.

The approach to the work we undertake is likely to reflect my view that our past experiences normally have a great impact on our current functioning. o it may be important to understand how such experiences can impact negatively, in order then to re-frame old life scripts and make better choices for more productive living.

You can be helped to improve interpersonal relationships, or discover effective ways of dealing with emotional and psychological difficulties. You may well be able to achieve strong, life-changing results that impact decisively on your future, both at work and in your personal life.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Psychodynamic Psychotherapist since 1998
