Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

As a highly experienced, qualified and confidential integrative psychotherapist, counsellor and life coach I offer brief or long term one to one therapy on a weekly or bi weekly basis. In my therapeutic practice I draw on approaches from counselling, psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Repossessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and life coaching according to each clients needs to provide a powerful, transformative process for personal growth, healing and for the identification and achievement of life goals. At its heart is our relationship: a place of support, challenge, honesty and commitment.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

My clients are courageous, committed people, who are prepared to aim high and believe in themselves. Together, we work to root out old, undermining and limiting beliefs and self-image; to build self-knowledge and self-confidence; to uncover and focus on goals and ambitions, and to set and achieve personal targets for growth and success in all aspects of life.

As we work together, I will bring the following to our relationship:

I will believe in you: your value as a human being; your strength; your ability to grow and achieve the life and successes you desire.

I will challenge you when you put yourself down, think small, or accept other people’s limiting assumptions as your own, and will work with you to install positive, optimistic, expansive beliefs and unshakeable self-confidence.

I will take your goals absolutely seriously. I will help you to clarify and expand your goals, and will challenge you to commit to, and achieve, your highest ambitions.

I will require you to set firm and measurable objectives, and will hold you to account.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • Professional Training Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) - University of Kent (UK) 2011

Testimonials about Carmel Clark

"I never wanted to go to a counsellor, I didn't really see how talking to a complete stranger about my issues would help me and the thought of trying to explain everything from scratch was a tiring thought. However, I agreed to give it a go, expecting to come away thinking it was a waste of time and money. Carmel is inspiring, understanding, extremely easy to talk to. It is obvious it's not just a job to her but a passion and she generally cares. Carmel obviously has a lot of life experience and uses her knowledge to coach you to step outside the box and look in, to understand reasons for people's behaviour and to see things rationally. It wasn't what I expected (which was a non emotional nod and smile every few minutes), I received advise on books, films, CD's and literature etc. Carmel is a warm, beautiful, professional, inspiring lady whom I have and will advise anyone who is thinking about seeking professional help to see. I am now a far more confident person, more rational, relaxed, more understanding and mature. Thanks to Carmel's superb counselling and coaching." Ali

"Working with Carmel helped me with confidence in my work, my opinions and my place in my family, peace of mind even when I am in the middle of chaos, balance, the ability to separate other people's feelings and actions from my own, the work gave me the chance to make the most of myself." Justine

"Carmel is a truly wonderful and gifted therapist. I found our sessions both inspiring and healing. She has an extraordinary ability of connecting at a very deep level, and helped me to discover my own solutions. I found this very empowering. Anyone who has the good fortune of having Carmel as a therapist is truly blessed." Oliver
