Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychology

I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist based in Nottingham. My clinical experience in counselling psychology includes working with private individuals, couples, families and groups. I have experience of working within prison settings, as well as with children and adults who have disabilities and their families. I also work in partnership with GP surgeries. I specialise in working with addictions, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychology

I integrate different methods in counselling psychology. This means that if you come to see me I will tailor therapy to you and the problems you are experiencing. I also use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma.

I provide counselling in a confidential, safe and comfortable environment. Our first appointment will consist of me assessing the problem, us discussing confidentiality, the way forward, what method we will use, and contracting our work together. If you are happy with me as a counselling psychologist then we can arrange the next appointment.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychology

My clinical training includes:

- BSc (Hons) Psychology
- Certificate Counselling Psychology
- MSc Counselling Psychology
- Post MSc Counselling Psychology
- Addictions
- Certificate Occupational Testing Levels A and B
- Level I and Level II in BSL (currently undertaking Level III)
- Domestic Violence
- Brief Strategic Focused Interventions With Substance Users
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy
- Hypnotherapy
- International Personality Disorder Examination
- Expert Witness Skills Training 2010

I am also a Rickter Scale Practitioner and have worked as a Play Therapist and Specialist Nursery Nurse.

Additional Information

Counselling can provide you with the opportunity to both explore and gain a deeper understanding of your problems, find skills to help you reach your goals, take responsibility for your life, and make choices and decisions you may have felt unable to make which can lead you to a more fulfilled and contented life.

I also offer training and clinical supervision to other clinicians.
