Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychology

Psychological and Existential Therapy can provide you with an opportunity to explore the psychological world that we inhabit. Working with everything from day to day stress to longer term problems. Dreams, fantasies and spiritual dimensions of our existence are issues that could be talked about in therapy. Conversing can aid us to clarify what gives us meaning by allowing us to identify and to further grow and develop as a result of our life experiences. I work with Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), relaxation techniques, calming of the mind, imagery, visualisation techniques, focusing, yoga, the psychology of self and self realisation, psychedelic experiences, experiences of love, the mind-body relationship, mystical experiences, and religious or spiritual experiences.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychology

There is a reason for the way we behave and adapt in the world, particularly while facing difficult challenges and traumatic experiences. Thus, whenever behaviours seem 'nonsensical', self defeating and even destructive we could learn from reflecting upon such experiences. The way we perceive ourselves, others and the world in which we inhabit can be of great value to our own understanding of our true existence.

I offer a two way process where client and therapist work collaboratively, openly and creatively. I have experience in a variety of needs and problems.

I have a special interest in diversity and do not judge on the basis of racial group, sexuality, mental health, religion, age, employment, status, gender, marital status, political opinions, disabilities or language. My life and experiences have helped me develop values that are important to me.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychology

  • British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) since 1991
  • Post MSc Counselling Psychology

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychology. I abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Additional Information

My more recent developments within Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) have developed beyond the theoretical and moved into incorporating research such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Mindfulness is a way of being present both within difficult and pleasant experiences and feelings. Traditionally CBT emphasised subconscious patterns of thinking and behaviour with particular emphasis upon 'fixing' and/or changing live emotions such as depression and anxiety.
