Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

For the past ten years I have been working in health and social care settings with many different clients expressing diverse human issues, including the ones listed above. I have worked and trained as a psychotherapist in NHS and community counselling agencies, such as MIND. My work has included: long and short term counselling and psychotherapy, therapy assessments, referrals and advice regarding other support agencies. I have also worked as a psychotherapist in a crisis centre in North London and as a university student counsellor.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

Our first meeting will be an opportunity to see if we want to work together. You may want to ask any relevant information about myself and the therapy situation; we will also look at your expectations of therapy. We will then focus on the issues that are important to you while looking at the process of therapy and how you experience yourself, mind and body. My integrative training in psychotherapy has been informed by existential philosophy and has been based on diverse academic and professional experiences including psychoanalytical, humanistic, experiential and CBT approaches to therapy.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have completed a postgraduate training (5 years) that included a Masters degree in integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, and an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy, registered by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). My undergraduate studies
were in Psychology and Fine Art. I am at present a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, and an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP (Accred) and abide by their Code of Ethics.

Additional Information

My journey as a therapist started when I went to see a counsellor in my early 20s. My professional development is based upon my own life experiences and my understanding of myself in relation to our world; therefore I view my personal therapy, professional supervision and other mind and body activities - such as yoga, traveling and sports - as important parts of the development and quality of my work as a psychotherapist.
