I have worked as a Counsellor in a GP surgery with people for short term counselling of up to ten sessions. I have a private counselling practice in Brighton where I see people either once weekly and twice weekly. I also provide counselling at The Rock Clinic where I work on an open ended basis, both short and long term. How I Work
I provide psychodynamic counselling. Psychodynamic counselling addresses the conflicts that people sometimes have and which can become quite difficult for them to deal with. This can affect relationships with others. Through talking and being heard, people can come to some understanding of the patterns they use in their relationships. Often, these patterns may be strategies that have been used in past experiences or childhood that, whilst still being used in the present, may not be useful anymore. Becoming aware of how you relate to others through reflecting on the conflicts you may have can be a step towards change and doing things differently.Clinical Training in Counselling
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I am currently in further training as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with The Guild of Psychotherapists. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor.Additional Information from Katherine Hegarty
It can be hard to choose someone you think you could feel comfortable with and then take a first step to come to counselling. I am happy to discuss any thoughts or questions you may have and arrange for a first session to see how you feel and what you would hope for.
