Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy

I provide counselling and psychotherapy in West London. I have been seeing clients on a one to one basis since the beginning of 2004. My clients include people of many different kinds and backgrounds, although I only work with adults. The people who come to see me are usually experiencing some degree of mental and emotional distress, and I provide a safe, respectful and professional environment within which this distress can be thought about, and in favourable circumstances, alleviated. I specialise in once a week counselling sessions, although under certain circumstances I do work with people twice a week. I work with people of all beliefs and none, and I have a specialism in dealing with matters of faith. I am respectful and understanding of faith issues. I do not see faith as something which needs to be 'explained away'.

What to Expect during Psychotherapy

The model of therapy that I offer (psychodynamic) provides an opportunity for you the client to talk about yourself and the difficulties you encounter in life. Meetings with me would usually take place once a week, and last for 50 minutes. Key features include:

- Confidentiality
- Safety
- Regularity
- Respectfulness

The objective of the therapy is to encourage you to think about and explore whatever troubles you. Through the therapeutic relationship, aspects of the past and events in everyday life can be linked and understood, leading in favourable circumstances to a new understanding of how you operate and respond. People have found that this helps in experiencing a new or renewed sense of inner wholeness and self worth.
