Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a qualified British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Psychotherapist.
I have worked in Private Practice for over ten years. I also work as a Counsellor for an employee assistance company and have worked as a School Counsellor for over five years.
My clients range in age from adolescent to retirement and come from a wide range of professions, i.e. administrative, caring professions, emergency services, counselling and psychotherapy trainees, and education; both in the public and private sector.
In my counselling and psychotherapy practice, I work with clients over varying time spans – from six sessions to several years. At the moment my client base presents with a wide range of issues including; depression, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, childhood issues, post natal depression, eating problems, bullying, anxiety, stress, work issues and dissatisfaction with their present day to day life.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
The first session is about meeting and assessing what you would want from therapy. This also gives you the opportunity to meet me and for me to clarify that I feel able to work with you. I then suggest we meet for a further six sessions. For some this is enough, for others they then commit to longer term work. I see therapy as being a weekly commitment, though this can be discussed in the first session. My theoretical approach is Humanistic and Relational.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist. I also have a Masters in Psychotherapy and a Counselling Diploma. I have done numerous workshops in subjects such as Working with Survivors of Abuse, Trauma, Relational perspectives, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy, etc.
I am a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) and adhere to their Code of Ethics.
