Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy

I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist. I provide private psychotherapy for individuals in North and Central London. I also have experience of working with two mental health charities in their counselling services, and of working within the NHS as an Honorary Psychotherapist. I also have experience from having worked on a helpline providing support for those suffering from a neurological disorder known as dystonia, and most recently have been working as a telephone counsellor for an Employee Assistance Programme.

What to Expect during Psychotherapy

My aim in psychotherapy is not to fit your presenting issues into any particular type of psychological model as such, but rather to open up these issues to elucidate insight and understanding. I see psychotherapy more as a philosophical undertaking, in which we can together consider how it is that your life might be lived. This undertaking may involve bringing to light the values and meanings that underpin your everyday interaction with others in the world, and also how you think about your own unique experience of living.

Clinical Qualifications in Psychotherapy

My introduction to psychotherapy started at the Institute of Psychoanalysis in 2001. Since then I have undertaken clinical training at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology at Regent's College in London. This training has been composed of two main parts: the first an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling, which provided a broad basis in Psychodynamic, Integrative and Existential theory, and the second an Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy.

As part of my training I have also undergone personal psychotherapy with two therapists, one trained at the Guild of Psychotherapists, and one trained at the Site. This and other aspects of my training such as Personal and Professional Development groups, experiential seminars, and clinical supervision have consolidated my academic studies in a practical way which means that my training has not just been theoretical.
