Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

My psychotherapy service is strictly confidential and I follow a strict professional code of conduct, good practice and an ethical framework of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). Besides private psychotherapy practices in Harley Street and East London, I have provided short term counselling services at “Mind” and have worked with a wide range of clients with complex needs in a variety of other settings including a multicultural centre for the homeless, rough sleepers, substance misusers and people with severe trauma. I have provided consultancy services for a number of clients in the private and public sector, deliver workshops in numerous settings and run weekly Therapy Groups.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

My philosophy is that all people have enormous capacity for living creatively, lovingly and joyfully which are often untapped or repressed in our society. Recognising that each person is unique, and that one therapy model does not suit all, I tailor my work to meet my client’s individual needs and personality adopting an Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling approach. This means that I attend to the whole person their perceptions thoughts and feelings and physical experience working as a whole. It also means that I move flexibly among a range of approaches such as humanistic, psychodynamic, body psychotherapy and neuroscience, depending on your individual needs and personality.

I am equally concerned about personal growth and development and encouraging people to discover their potential for living as I am about those of you who have identified that you have particular problems you wish to talk about.

My sessions involve you and I meeting, talking and listening together with the mutual purpose of paying careful attention to your life and how you experience it.

Therapy is a shared process so I think it is important for me to honour your privacy and personal independence and for me to create a non-judgmental nurturing environment so that you feel comfortable enough to talk about issues that are bothering you. My role is to facilitate your work in ways that respect your values, personal resources and capacity for choice within your cultural and spiritual context and recognize how they can sometimes be at odds with your actions or how you feel day to day.

Additional Information

My corporate experience includes senior management and policy positions with specialisms in the following areas: diversity, coaching, mentoring, social inclusion and health work and well-being. This has helped me to understand how difficult it is to achieve a balance between home and family life and personal ambition.

Low cost sessions are sometimes available during off-peak hours.
Debit and credit cards accepted.

Film and Script Consultancy

I advise film Directors and scriptwriters on the authenticity of film narratives involving psychotherapy. For example, I recently worked with Film Director, Mike Leigh, on his latest film Another Year which was nominated and received excellent reviews at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
