Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have over four years experience of working with clients in various organisational settings, as well as in private practice. These include a GP Surgery, University, Schools, Nottingham Women's Centre and the charity The Carer's Federation. I work with children, young people and adults, both on short and long term contracts. I offer counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples in a confidential setting, in the following locations: - Nottingham, NG5 (near Forest Fields) and Whatton, NG13 (near Bingham), which is within easy reach of Grantham, Bottesford, Melton Mowbray, Radcliffe, Cotgrave and Lowdham.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a Humanistic Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist which means that I work relationally, attempting to truly understand a client's world from their perspective. I offer a therapeutic relationship based on understanding and respect, facilitating exploration of your internal world in a warm, supportive and non judgemental environment. I aim to be
alongside you so that together we can find some insight and clarity, enabling you to be everything you can be, and empowering you to make decisions and choices that are right for you. I come from a place of hope and belief in human potential, and I believe that facilitating a sense of resilience can aid emotional well being now and into the future.

Counselling sessions are non directive allowing you to work at your own pace, in your own way, and focus on the aspects that are important to you. They allow you the space and time to reflect on your experiences and discover 'new ways of being', whilst supporting you to implement them, should you choose to do so.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Humanistic Psychotherapist since 2008
  • MA Humanistic Person Centred Counselling - University of Birmingham (UK) 2008
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Member (MBACP) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2007

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Code of Ethics of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Code of Ethics of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) Nottingham.
