Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

Welcome. I'm Jennifer. I am a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) and a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Counselling Psychologist. I work with people to help them make sense of the thoughts and emotions they experience. My private Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy practice is based in Bradford-on-Avon.

I have been a BPS Chartered Counselling Psychologist since April 2004 and a HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist since October 2012, so I have more than 9 years and 2 months of post-chartership experience of helping clients. I work with Individuals, Couples and Families. I'm experienced in working with men and people from different backgrounds and cultures, and helping with the particular issues they face.

What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

After an initial consultation in Bradford-on-Avon, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. We can use the safe space to explore the current challenges for which you are considering Counselling, Psychology or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.

The aim of my Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy practice is to concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported. To get the most from Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to work collaboratively.

As a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Counselling Psychologist, I am trained and experienced in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Couple Therapy, Family Therapy, Humanistic and Integrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Psychosynthesis Therapy to work with people to improve their wellbeing.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

We look at how your thoughts are related to how you feel and what you do (or don't do). We work together on creating awareness of your patterns and changing your thoughts so that you start to feel better - particularly suited to anxiety and or depression. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Couple Therapy

We work together to unravel the difficulties you may be experiencing and help with communication so that you can both be heard. We look at what may need to change. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Family Therapy

I see whole families so that we can work together on resolving difficulties. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Humanistic and Integrative Therapy

Just as a plant has everything within it to flourish if it is given the right conditions, so to can clients grown and flourish with the right therapist. I integrate a number of approaches as each person is different. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT)

I can teach you to use mindfulness meditation and relaxation as part of our work together and combine this this CBT - by being accepting of things we can not change (the paradox is) they start to change!. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Looking at issues related to childhood and working towards resolving issues that still cause pain. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Psychosynthesis Therapy

This honours you as a spiritual being, and we work together with that knowing. Generally 6 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
