What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
After an initial appointment in Penarth, there is no obligation to continue if you do not wish to. We may take the opportunity to consider the current difficulties for which you seek Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported.
As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Senior Accredited (MBACP Snr Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist, UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist and UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind) Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Brief Therapy and Humanistic and Integrative Therapy to assist people to get through the difficulties they experience.
Brief Therapy
Through the focused approach of brief therapy it is possible to tackle problems by stepping outside them, clarifying the main issues and enable you to think about your problem and the feelings associated with it in a different way. Generally 5 to 6 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Humanistic and Integrative Therapy
My approach to therapy means I believe people have the potential to be emotionally healthy; that patterns from the past affect the present adversely sometimes. Within a therapeutic relationship we can think about problems in relation to past experience, i.e., repeated, unhelpful ways of being, towards greater wellbeing. Generally 20 to 50 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
