What to Expect during Psychotherapy
After an initial appointment in Isleworth, there is no obligation to continue if you do not wish to. As Client and Therapist, we can take the opportunity to explore the current or unresolved past experience for which you seek Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You and I will then be able to decide if my Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Psychotherapy practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment. To get the most from Psychotherapy you will need to be able to work collaboratively.
As a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, I am trained and experienced in using Brief Therapy, Family and Systemic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Systemic Therapy to assist people to get through the difficulties they experience.
Family and Systemic Therapy
Systemic Therapy explores the difficulties you may experience in life by focusing on your relationships and the systems that you are embedded in, such as family, work, social life. Discussing feelings, thoughts and beliefs with one another, you can construct new understanding and healthier relationships in these contexts. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy starts from the position that problems are not within you, but are external influences that can be changed. It supports you to re-author your story, if you have been affected by negative or difficult experiences, in a more positive way that resonates with your values and ambitions. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT focuses on the present in helping you to cope with your difficulties. By understanding existing successful ways of overcoming the problem, it represents an opportunity to enhance your abilities and discover your inner strengths to achieve positive goals. Generally 4 to 6 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
