What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
After an initial consultation in Woodside Park, London, there is no obligation to continue if you do not wish to. We may use the time to talk about the particular concerns for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported, tailor therapy to you and your needs and work towards ending therapy when it is right for you.
As a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Humanistic and Integrative Therapist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Couple Therapy, Existential Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Family and Couple Therapy, Family and Relationship Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Phenomenological Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to assist people to live more fully.
Couple Therapy
Each couple's needs are unique, so your aims will be specific to your situation. We will collaborate to find a way of working that takes your circumstances into account and helps you open channels to real dialogue. There is no side-taking or blaming in this work. Generally 4 to 20 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Existential Therapy
Being human can bring up tough challenges. Existential therapy is a conversation that explores what matters to you and we take stock and re-evaluate how you live your life, even when circumstances do not favour you, and throw light on new possibilities which you may choose to follow. Generally 8 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Experiential Therapy
You live and interact with the world through your body yet may not stop to notice your 'felt-sense', how you carry your responses in an embodied way. Tuning into yourself when you are talked out can be revealing and helpful as part of the therapy. Generally 8 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Family and Couple Therapy
Family dynamics shift and change and it is easy to get locked into unhelpful ways of looking at and responding to each other. Therapy may help you to listen, hear and respect each other and accept differences and develop cooperative strategies without lapsing into conflict. Generally 4 to 10 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Person Centred Therapy
Some people need a space to talk and to be heard and are able to self-search, led by their own compass of integrity. When this is so, a person-centred style of working can support and facilitate your personal exploration and shifting. This approach can be integrated with other therapeutic styles. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Phenomenological Therapy
What makes you unique is the way you have a different way of making sense of your world and one way to explore this is with a naive explorative attitude - you are not boxed into a theory but invited to wonder about the specific way you are. Generally 4 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
